Judge in the Trump case is a corrupt liberal who hates Trump...

In one case she threw out the pre-set agreement for home detention and sentenced a Jan 6th suspect to 45 days in jail for "parading" (aka - holding a sign too close to the capital).

The reality is that the Judge has already made up her mind about this case and has expressed this in other rulings. Given that the case will largely fall to attorneys making arguments about the "law" itself, it seems more than a bit unfair that she has already made up her mind before the arguments even begin. Her rulings have echoed the concepts put forward by Smith. The idea that this was a "random" appointment to this case seems highly suspect.

She is already chastising Trump and his team (almost proactively) for bringing politics into the situation. Well the reality of this being political appears to be obvious to everyone but this judge and it is not Trump that decided to make this a court case. The idea that she will try to manage how the Trump defense team manages their own defense is against pretty much all rules of court fair play. Trump is the defendant and he is allowed to bring whatever defense he wants. Whether it pleases the Judge is irrelevant.

But for a Judge to sentence someone to 45 days in jail for holding a sign in favor of Trump, in the same jurisdiction where you are allowed to assault a police officer without consequence because you protesting "against" Trump shows more than a bit of bias. Parading is treated 999 times out of a 1000 as a citation. She literally made her exception based on anger towards Trump and the reason for the signage. Not sure how this can be anything other than bias At the very least, shows that the Judge has zero interest of looking fair.

So obviously the Trump team has asked the Judge to recuse herself based on this bias. The rules regarding recusal is whether or not the impartiality of the Judge can be questioned. On the flip side, Judges generally do not recuse themselves for how they behaved in the past as a Judge (regardless of how biased their rulings appear). But rather most will reserve recusal for bias that would come into play due to their personal lives.

To be clear, this is a Federal case and will almost assuredly end up on the plate of the USSC. Whether the USSC gets involved or not is a question, but for something of this importance I would think they would. However, given the politics of the situation, that may not matter. The concept would be to get a conviction at all costs (even one that would be most assuredly overturned)l. Make no mistake, this is a political judge with open political views that she openly uses in her court decisions. She can all but guarantee both a conviction and overturning if that is what she chooses to do.

Either way, this is a precarious situation for everyone involved. The chances of this going smoothly is almost zero. Allowing an openly hostile Judge to oversee a trial of this significance makes it all but impossible to see this going anywhere else but sideways. But this is the Banana Republic that
