Some sort of shock and awe campaign from all angles shortly after the debate would have been the best strategy.
At this point there seems to be a strange strategy of hesitation from those Democrats who obviously want him out of the race. The problem is that every time there has been a Democrat willing to come out and say they believe Biden should leave the race, there is another Democrats suggesting that he is their man. More to the point, some of those supporting Biden are prominent (at least in liberal circles).
How does Congressman Earl Blumenauer calling on Biden to step down compete with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez backing him? How does Senator Peter Welch calling on Biden to step down compete with Senator John Fetterman campaigning side by side with the President in Pennsylvania. Thirteen Members of the House and only one Senator have publicly called on Biden to step away. That doesn't seem nearly enough to me when you consider he has the Squad, the leader of the Black Caucus, the hooded Senator, and others taking his side. Today, he had the DNC chair step up and suggest Biden is the nominee and that media needs a course correction.
But what about the polls? Well a poll today suggested that 56% of Democratic voters want him out of the race, but another poll taken a few days ago suggested that over 60% of Democratic voters wanted him to stay in. Which poll do you think Biden's inner circle will be looking at? More to the point, there has always been a bloc of Democratic voters who wanted and still want to replace Biden. That has not affected Biden in the past and I doubt it will effect him today.
Lastly, the latest rumors are that this whole replace Biden movement is being orchestrated by the Obama gang. Given the animosity between the Bidens and the Obamas along with the animosity between the Bidens and Harris, this makes it even more likely that Biden digs in, even if only for spite.
Tonight's presser will be both big and a big boy event. I am not as interested with how well Joe Biden "performs" as I will be as to what he says. I think he could go fall down on the way to the podium, mumble incoherently for a few minutes, and then tell everyone he pooped his pants and needs to go change is adult diaper, and I am not sure it matters anymore. What matters is whether or not he still demands he is staying in the race or whether he offers some suggestion that he is contemplating stepping down. If it is still the former, then we are starting to get into an exercise in futility situation. If it is the latter, then I would look for the dam to completely break.
Jill Biden would rather scoop out her own eyeballs with a spoon than have Joe step aside for Kamala. They have also been feuding with the Obamas for years and suggest that they are "behind" this plot to drive him out.
Interesting theory on why Biden refuses to drop out. Jill won't let him because she and Kamala are feuding and Jill won't let Harris have a lane to the presidency.
Moscow calls Biden a 'pro-Russian candidate being controlled by the Kremlin' in mocking barb over his gaffe-strewn NATO speech where he called Zelensky 'President Putin'
Some say that it will take Obama to get him to step down. Others say that the Biden camp believes it is Obama trying to push him out and that makes him want to stay in more. He does not look like a guy going anywhere and I do believe we have gotten to a point where Democrats will literally have to upend him at the "virtual roll call" decide to enact the 25th Amendment or... just resign themselves to the fact he is their nominee.
