Will private donations keep NPR, PBS, and Planned Parenthood alive?

I think that is the point. Most do not care that they exist, they just don't like that they are government funded.

Now the first thing that PBS, NPR have to realize is that they are no longer considered "pubic media". The are now effectively private companies and will need to compete in the same manner anyone else will. Planned Parenthood always referred to themselves as private (even as they were funded by the Government) and they basically chose abortions over government funding. Had they simply decided to only provide all of the non-abortion services (that they claim are their bread and butter) they would have continued to receive funding. But being an abortion clinic was more important to them than the funding. So that is on them.
Now all of these organizations are looking for private donations to stay afloat. I will say that I am neither rooting for or against them. If they get donations and keep going as private businesses with no ties to federal funding, then all the more power to them. If they all crash and burn and no longer exist in a couple of years, well I won't lose any sleep over it.
"Pubic media"?
Like Hustler or Playboy, you mean?
