When you punish free speech and encourage threatening speech

Tulane University has opened up an investigation into a student, Sarah Ma, after she wrote an opinion piece defending Kanye West in his wearing a “White Lives Matters” shirt and justifying comments that are widely viewed as antisemitic. In addition to the university telling Ma that she should leave the campus for her own safety, Erica Woodley, Tulane’s Associate Vice President & Dean of Students, sent out an email announcing that it was investigating the matter. Woodley stated “While the importance of free expression on a university campus cannot be overstated, words that run counter to our core values impact our community.” Perhaps Tulane cannot “overstate” free speech values, but it is clearly under protecting them in taking this action.

Ma said that she has received death threats. A campus publication called The Dissidentreported that Woodley met with Ma and “advised Ma to leave campus for at least a couple of weeks because Tulane’s administration does not believe she is safe on campus.” Woodley reportedly told Ma that the university could “probably” keep her safe on campus but could not offer even that uncertain protection off campus. So the university is encouraging her to leave campus and study remotely.

So basically the school is investigating Ma for wearing a White Lives Matter t-shirt and for supporting Kayne West, but not investigating death threats? This is the new motus operandi in the woke culture for how we deal with things. Disagree with the latest talking point narrative and you will pay the price. But as long as you agree with the latest narrative, then you are allowed to be as obnoxious as you like, even if that means breaking the law.

Make no mistake, Ma has not violated any laws here. She probably has not violated any school rules either. She simply offended liberals. On the flip side, death threats are a real crime and I suspect that these people could probably be found if the School chose to take it seriously. Perhaps Ma should find herself a good attorney and start making some waves. I suspect that the country as a whole has had it up to here with this nonsense.

For the record. Kayne West is a kook. But that doesn't mean that there is no right to defend his views or otherwise stand up for unpopular beliefs. This should not be about Kayne West. This should be about how it has become common to attack someone for legal first amendment protected speech while allowing real hate speech (death threats) to go without challenge.

I saw where Soros, who is down something like 80% on his American made Rivian investment, has started decreasing that and started buying Tesla stock.

The guy is the most evil billionaire ever, unless it's Gates or Bezos.

But he does understand the stock market and isn't married to his positions.

Well you know... liberals feel guilty about buying the best electric car, so they will buy the cheap American ones instead. Funny how that works.

Defending Kanye West is a lot like defending Elon Musk

How long until Tesla's are banned from campus?

or for that matter the Bible?
