What's up with Ilhan Nur Said Elmi?
She calls herself Ilhan Omar, but who is she really?

Well well.... The government is referring to Ilhan Omar as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” in their latest filing. This is by all accounts her actual legal name here in the United States.
So why on god's green earth does a politician actually use a different name than their apparent legal name, even so far as to run for federal office using what amounts to an alias? Well, there may be reasons she doesn't want people to know.
Let's start with the concept that her father was Nur Said Elmi Mohamed. According to Somali culture a person's name would incorporate their father and grandfather's names. So it would be clear that if both parties had Nur Said Elmi in their name that they are by nature related. The father also went by another name, Nur Omar Mohamed (which is where Ilhan gets Omar from). But this is not his name according to public records. So both Ilhan and her father were using aliases.
Here is the rub. The man she first married was named Ahmad Nur Said Elmi, making it extremely coincidental that he carries the same father/grandfather naming convention if he was not in fact of the same Nur Said Elmi clan. Again, in Somali culture Ahmad Nur Said Elmi and Ilhan Nur Said Elmi would almost certainly be siblings. For those of you not keeping up, it has long been claimed that when she married Ahmad, that he was her brother and the marriage was a sham to assist in getting him into the United States.
Furthermore, there are now significant allegations that Ilhan and her associates pressured recordkeepers to alter her birth year, making her appear a year younger, thus 17, when she entered the United States. If she had been 18, as the original records indicated, she would not have been eligible to link her immigration status with her father's. She would have needed to immigrate separately as an adult child to be here legally. Technically, the allegations suggest this was done specifically to conceal her true age, as it's undisputed that her records were changed. It's doubtful anyone will ever be certain of her birth date (even if records from Somalia are obtained, it might not significantly impact the discussion). It seems likely that the burden of proof will fall on the government to demonstrate that the age change was not legitimate, rather than on Ilhan to prove its legitimacy.
There appears to be more to it than even this. A sister of Ilhan has apparently voluntarily stepped forward and is talking to the Feds, which is not likely a good sign for Ilhan. Time will tell how this plays out, and with the media's help it will probably not make much difference to the left. But if she is here illegally... I am pretty sure she herself has suggested in the past that no one is above the law. I wonder if she meant it?
another note... Ahmed never ended up in he United States. He decided to stay in the UK when the marriage was questioned. Lot's of "coincidence" here if not actual evidence.

Based upon what I have read they have her dead to rights.
Based upon my experience with the failure theatre that is the GOP, nothing comes of this.
I so want to be wrong, but I've been suckered by the right way too many time to feel otherwise.
