What is wrong with this picture?

The fourteenth amendment protects the rights of "children" to take dangerous puberty blockers and have permanent reconstructive surgery that will leave them unable to have children and likely unable to orgasm?

That’s the Administration’s position in LW v. Skrmetti, a lawsuit filed in a Nashville, Tennessee federal court by the families of three transgender children – a fifteen year-old transgender daughter (who thought he was transgender at age 12), a fifteen year-old transgender son, and a twelve year-old transgender son. They’re challenging a new Tennessee law that “establishes prohibitions related to the performance on minors of certain medical procedures related to gender identity, creates private causes of action for violations, and establishes additional penalties for violations.”

Yep, the Biden DOJ is getting involved and attempting to argue that sexual organ mutilation is a 14th amendment right for minor children. The 14th amendment is generally used under the "equal protection" ideal set forth, meaning our DOJ believes that rights that adults are provided cannot be denied to children.

To be clear, if this lawsuit were to succeed, then the same principles would apply to pretty much any age restrictions. Under this 14th amendment logic an 9 year old child would have the same rights as any adult. They could garner a driver's license, they could buy alcohol, drugs were it is legal, purchase and own guns, probably even conceal and carry in states that allow that. There could be "no" restriction placed on them simply for being children. The entire concept of them not being old enough to make certain decisions or engage in certain activities would fall by the wayside.

But sadly... this appears to be quite literally the best argument they can come up with. Did anyone actually think this through... even a little?
