We still really don't know what is going on with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin

Something about a complication from an elective surgery is all we know...

The scandal surrounding the hospitalization of our Defense Secretary seems to be growing rather than subsiding. Part of the problem here is a reluctance to apparently give a straight answer as to what was going on in the first place.

There also seems to be some back and forth about who actually knew what? Originally the allegations were that most everyone knew, but the Administration as a whole was keeping it from the public. As time has gone on, the story keeps changing to involve less people. As of today, apparently only Austin himself actually knew he was in the Hospital. Perhaps even Austin himself did not know any "details"? But how does one go about providing authority to another person without explaining exactly why you are providing it? How does another person who is out of the country on vacation take over your duties? Why was there even a surgery scheduled at the same time your next in line is out of the country?

All I know is that none of this passes the smell test.
