We really do have two realities in Pennsylvania (and some lawbreakers)

One reality is where David McCormick is the Senator-elect and one is where the race is still too close to call.

I just saw that the Hill/DDHQ reluctantly called the Pennsylvania race after holding out for what seems like forever. Fox News called the race quite awhile ago, as did the Associated Press (AP). Real Clear Politics has called the race, as has the economist, and other aggregation sites. Even Nate Silver is referring to McCormick as the Senator elect.

But the major networks, CNN and MSNBC are all showing the race as uncalled, while Bob Casey is refusing to concede. Oddly, the numbers being provided continue to not make sense. A week ago, the Secretary of State suggested that they had 100,000 ballots to adjudicate. Since then they have counted no less than 60,000 more votes. The margin is still about 25,000 votes for McCormick (it had been about 32,000). Today, there is suggestion that there are still 80,000 or more votes left to adjudicate, which makes literally no mathematical sense. That would suggest that they somehow have received another 40,000 votes postmarked on November 4th since November 8th. I get that some mail is slow, but not that slow. According to those who spend time looking at the county to county numbers, there cannot possibly be that many ballots left outstanding. Unless, of course, they are still looking at the ballots that have been tossed because of problems... which we find out might be exactly the case.

Apparently the commissioners in Bucks County (which is about a 50/50 county) voted today to count illegal ballots. This was after the DNC lost several lawsuits and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that not only could they not be counted, but counting them could lead to criminal charges. Apparently, these commissioners see themselves as above the law, as they openly admit that they believe that court rulings don't matter, that people break the law anyways, and that they are going to break the law here. Apparently to specifically call the court's attention to it or something.

Now I am not sure how they suspect that this will fly? Obviously if these illegally counted ballots were to change any of the races out there, then the courts would step in (again) and remove those from the vote count. What is the point?

The only question is now that they have openly defied the law and openly wanted to call everyone's attention to their blatant breaking of the law, does someone actually step up and arrest and prosecute them? I mean... it is against the law to break the law... as counterintuitive as this must seem to these people.

Either way, the only question remains is if Bob Casey will make taxpayers pay another million plus dollars to do a recount that he has no mathematical manner to win, being down 25,000 votes.
