We all know it is true, but the question is why?

13 Attorney Generals send letter to CEOs of the 100 largest corporations explaining that discrimination based on race is illegal. We know these businesses will ignore it and continue discriminating under the guise of diversity and inclusion.

We, the undersigned Attorneys General of 13 States, write to remind you of your obligations as an employer under federal and state law to refrain from discriminating on the basis of race, whether under the label of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” or otherwise. Treating people differently because of the color of their skin, even for benign purposes, is unlawful and wrong. Companies that engage in racial discrimination should and will face serious legal consequences.

Well-intentioned racial discrimination is just as illegal as invidious discrimination. The “argument that different rules should govern racial classifications designed to include rather than exclude is not new; it has been repeatedly pressed in the past, and has been repeatedly rejected.”

So why would any company decide not to hire the most qualified candidates and instead hire non-white and non-straight candidates who may be far less qualified? What exactly about diversity and inclusion really makes a workplace better? I work in an ethnically and racial diverse company. Half of our employees are from other countries and many speak different languages besides English. I seriously doubt that this was done in the name of diversity. Oh, and guess what? I have no clue about the sexual orientation of anyone (other than those who are married or in relationships). Oddly, the subject never comes up in our day to day communications about work. Why would it matter to programing or problem solving? What matters is that the people hired are hired because they can do the job. I have yet to run across a diversity hire.

But for whatever reasons, our current crop of American CEOs have decided that hiring the best candidates should be scraped in favor or hiring less straight white people. Apparently this is the new business logic that being able to brag to other liberals at the dinner party on Friday night is a superior thing than making money. Not saying that minorities or members of the LBGTQ community cannot be good employees. Just that unless they are truly better than other candidates, hiring them because of that lacks business savvy to any degree.

Is this really just about saving face around other woke people who would otherwise be upset with them if they were not so woke? It seems like shaming and bullying and that those involved are hopelessly addicted to it. Like trying to maintain the "popularity contest" of High School all over again. It can be mind-numbingly tedious and at the end of the day did it matter whether or not you sat at the cool table? Sometimes if you just go off and sit by yourself, you find others will come to you. Turns out, not everyone wants to work that hard to be a cool kid. Sadly, being woke is apparently the new cool to these people. But imagine how much fun we can make of ourselves when we were young and foolish. Only a matter of time for these idiots.
