USAID down to under 300 employees

Let the lawsuits begin! But the Administration has been careful not to dismantle it completely!

So originally many politicians and members of USAID suggested that they were a purely "independent" and that Trump was "breaking the law" by even trying to provide any oversight. They demanded that they didn't need to turn over any information, that they could not be audited, and that they would sue to stop any interference in their independences. Well that argument didn't last very long.

Now it would appear that they are struggling to stay afloat and the latest buzz is that they will sue the Trump administration for trying to dismantle and shut down the agency. However, Trump has not yet shut down anything. He simply fired the people running it, put many of of the employees on leave and placed the entire agency under the leadership of Marco Rubio. This (according to some) suggests that the agency is now under the umbrella of the State Department. Not sure how this is technically "illegal" although I don't doubt some district judge somewhere will order them all back to work.

The problem for them is that all of this has been exposed. There will be no more agency under the Trump administration that funds Politico-Pro subscriptions for Government employees, funds so called "charities" that are harboring illegal aliens, or funds any number of things that do not appear to have anything to do with the stated objective. Even if these same employees are ordered back to work, their days are numbered and the slush fund has been eliminated.

Meanwhile for all of those people screaming and hollering about the actual good they might be doing are missing the fact that the agency has not been defunded. Rather those who have decided what to do with the funds have been shelved and will be replaced. No doubt if there are legitimate functions that will help Americans (and there are probably some) then those funds will be allocated by those under Rubio's charge. So not only will the GOP win on the arguments about what shouldn't be funded, but Democrats will lose by trying to demand that Trump is preventing legitimate funding from going out.

I wonder if Trump is tired of winning yet? Democrats seem awful tired of losing and it's barely been two weeks.
