In a somewhat Trumpish move, Trump has declared that his VP pick has been decided, but apparently doesn't see the need to let anyone (including the running mate) know.
If the timing is indicative of anything, it might be that the pick is V.D. Vance, as Vance is seen as the hot pick of the week. Perhaps picking a rust belt player like Vance will help with Pennsylvania and Michigan. Tim Scott and Doug Burgum are a couple of other names that seem to be on the rise. Tim Scott could help solidify his rising status with black voters, and Burgum provides some governing stability that could play a factor if age becomes an issue for voters.
Trump says that the pick will be in the audience for the debate, suggesting that an announcement could happen soon.
