Everything was in place when he was sworn in. Didn't even take the afternoon to celebrate. Just got right to work.
Make no mistake, the man has a chip on his shoulder, as well he should. You take a shot at the King, well you better not miss, and they emptied the chambers on Trump and missed like a slew of bad guys trying to shoot the star of the action movie.
I have to admit that this must be a very sobering moment for his opponents. I swear there should be a suicide watch for some of the folks over at Political Wire, as they have turned on pretty much everyone but those of them who post there regularly. According to them, there is no fair media anymore, they have all gone pro-Trump. CNN, MSNBC, NYT, and of course WaPo are all part of the Pro-Trump FOX news Tucker Carlson style media now. They only go to Political Wire and a few other blogs, and even then they attack Goddard all the time for how he frames stories. They are the actual people who are unhappy if everyone in the media is not calling Trump Hitler and Republicans Nazis.
Either way, Trump is a different man now than he was eight years ago or at least he appears to be. He may have just been a bit out of his element the first time around and feels like he has a handle on things this time. I don't believe I have ever witnessed someone come into the White House like he did, so massively prepared to start smashing things to bits on his first day without a second thought. He never has to run for reelection and he will no longer care if liberals are on his side, and he probably only cares a little about the mushy middle.
I look for him to do much of the hard controversial stuff early on (like the Jan 6th pardons) so that it will likely be forgotten by the time the mid-terms roll around. 2026 is the last election that this man needs to worry about. If they can keep the House in place (the Senate seems set) then watch out for the last two years. It should be an absolute free-for-all.
