Democrats have run the White House for twelve of the past sixteen years.
What is the "real" argument for them to stay in charge for the next four years? Seriously? Other than trying to scare people into believing every Republican is Hitler, what is their argument? Harris represents not just four years, but another possible eight years of Democrats ruling the executive branch? Are things going so well that Americans want the status quo for that sort of period of time.
Donald Trump is in the unique position of being the only non-Democratic President we have had in recent memory. Many younger voters are not even old enough to remember the Bush years. In fact, anyone under the age of 34 was still in School when Obama was elected. They might remember Bush, but they were not paying bills and having to be responsible for themselves. The only question people must ask themselves was whether or not things were actually better under Trump, or if we want to double down on what is happening today. Sometimes the momentum of reality is bigger than the specifics of the current events.
Not only that, but Donald Trump can promise something that Kamala Harris cannot. A one term limit. Contrary to popular belief, Donald Trump will not become a dictator, cannot run for a third term, and has no authority to suspend the next election. He will be in and out in four years and then we can look to new leadership. But at the very least, he can disrupt where the country is heading right now, and quite possibly reverse some of the damages being done today. Now if you think that there is no problem at the border, that the economy is great, and that inflation is a myth, then by all means... vote for the status quo. But Kamala Harris is not "change" to any degree. She is another Democrat and to the degree that she will not be status quo, she will be even more extreme than Biden was.
Democrats wanted to blame their current polling woes on Biden. Perhaps Biden was part of it, but he was never the main issue. If people were happy with where we were at as a country, Joe Biden could have simply stayed out of sight and won reelection without much problem. Americans believing we were going in the right direction, that the economy was coming around, and that problems were being solved would have made Joe Biden's reelection a done deal, regardless of his age, stamina, and ability to speak coherently.
