It is starting to look like he could get everyone confirmed
A while ago Hegseth's journey was thought to be over. Just like Matt Gaetz ended up doing, many people were assuming Hegseth would voluntarily step aside. It was only a matter of time if they kept the pressure on.
Once he was out of the way, the next in line for the left would be Tulsi Gabbard (who they somehow believe might be sleeping with Putin or something like that). The self-congratulation was quite extensive in some circles. They were going to pick of the Trump nominees one by one.
That all took an abrupt turn when Trump made positive statements about Hegseth, demanded he was standing behind him, followed by Hegseth assuring everyone that he was not stepping back and would continue to fight for the nomination. Funny thing about politicians, they seem to have way less of a problem with backdooring someone then confronting it head on. Working behind the scenes or making anonymous statements is one thing. But having to go on record and openly vote against a Trump nominee right now is a completely different issue. Likely a career changing fool's errand in the 2024 GOP.
As it stands Hegseth is not a betting favorite to get confirmed, and smart money put's Gabbard as the most likely to not be confirmed. That being said, there is little buzz from anyone on the right about Gabbard. Just more nonsense about how Gabbard once met with Assad and by nature must be a Russian stooge. I suspect that this will not resonate with Republicans.
At the end of the day, there seems to be a better chance than not that most every nominee ends up being confirmed and Trump will once again be "winning".
Different vibe with Trump this election:

Charlie Kirk on X: "Jen Psaki is upset that not a single Republican Senator has raised any objection to Kash Patel’s nomination as the next Director of the FBI and is on a “glide path for confirmation.” President Trump should 100% be given deference by the Republican Senate confirming HIS cabinet. https://t.co/DC8YbWxvpD" / X
To me, the Gaetz nom was always a troll, invoking the desired level of pearl-clutching, fainting couch collapsing, and ultimately resulting in Trump's true desired pick all along.
And the Pro-Publica piece confirmed what many, or at least me, knew all along. It's a Marxist rag churning out reliable click bait for the TDS crowd, willing to tell any lie to do it. Remarkably the real story was WP's willingness to lie to torpedo Hegseth's nom. Yet there was absolutely no interest in that.
