Big Ten looked dominant today after Ohio State meltdown Friday night.

Indiana and Oregon outscore their opponents 61-3 in dominating performances, while Ole Miss beats Georgia in one of the most bizarre finishes I have ever seen. I didn't get a chance to watch any of the Ohio State game, but it would seem like untimely interceptions and another lackluster offensive game leaves the Buckeyes with the sour taste of ending the season with their only two losses. Given how dominant Indiana and Oregon was, it makes the Ohio State loss to Miami even odder.

Not sure who was more dominant between Oregon and Indiana. Clearly Texas Tech was outmatched. Simply had not played anyone with the talent level of an Oregon. I was actually more than a bit surprised that Alabama beat Oklahoma, but they showed their true colors against what turned out to be a far superior Indiana team. Sorry Crimson tide, but Indiana beat you like a red headed stepchild, or possibly a crimson headed stepchild.

Getting back to the Georgia game. This was the first time that a Kirby Smart team has lost a game that they led going into the fourth quarter. Of course, showing that statistic probably jinxed it. I am puzzled how Georgia recovered a kickoff without taking time off the clock. The play officially starts at the "touch" of the ball and ends when the official blows the whistle. It is impossible for someone to garner complete control and establish possession and the play to be called dead in zero time. But hey, what do I know? I also thought there was an obvious face mask that the referees suggested was perfectly legal. Go figure.

So who wins the next matchups? Well, Indiana beat Oregon by ten in Oregon. No reason at this point to expect a different outcome. Indiana just seems that good. Either way, there is a Big Ten School in the finals for the third year in a row. Is it possible that Miami has truly come of age and their performance against Ohio State was not a fluke? If that is the case, they likely stay on the roll and beat Ole Miss, who seemed more than beat up at the end of their game. On the flip side, Miami relies heavily on a big pass rush, and one has to wonder if they can actually get to Trinidad Chambliss, who looked a little like Fran Tarkenton back there. The rebels put up almost 500 yards against Georgia. In some ways, the matchup sort of feels like there may be an advantage for Ole Miss. That being said, I think Miami might end up being favored by oddsmakers. Yeah, I am hedging.

Last point. Is it really an advantage to have that first round bye? In the past two playoffs, seven of the eight teams who got the first-round bye has lost in the quarterfinals. Only Indiana today defied that pattern. Perhaps it is just coincidence, but as a wise person once told me, there is no such thing as a coincidence.

I think they should get rid of byes and add 4 teams to the playoffs. Less controversy on who gets in, every teams playing the second round will be coming off a recent win (momentum) and wouldn't take any longer overall with more revenue. win/win/win
