The Q-Anon Shaman and the Proud Boys seem to have something in common

The political powers to be have been determined to make an example out of them

The leader of the far-right Proud Boys revealed at his trial text messages showing “regular contact” with a Metropolitan Police officer in Washington, D.C. in the 15 months before the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, reported The Washington Post on Friday.

“Enrique Tarrio, then chairman of the far-right extremist group, repeatedly shared outlines of members’ plans in D.C. and elsewhere at the request of Shane Lamond, a 22-year veteran of the D.C. police department, according to text exchanges read by Tarrio’s defense in his trial on seditious conspiracy charges with four other Proud Boys leaders,” reported Spencer S. Hsu. “Tarrio argues that his relationship with Lamond showed there was no Proud Boys conspiracy to oppose police or federal authority, or plan to disrupt Congress’s confirmation of Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory on Jan. 6. Exchanges highlighted by the defense show Lamond forwarded his information to his D.C. police command, a Virginia State Police contact, and even U.S. Capitol Police.”

We also found out in the past week or so that there were up to 40 different undercover agents posing as Proud Boys at the riot. The amount of undercover agents posing as Proud Boys wildly outnumbered the actual number of Proud Boys who were there (which was in the single digits). As far as anyone can tell, this Tarrio character was not a violent participant in the riots and unless there is information that has not been provided by authorities there was no plan to overthrow the Government by the Proud Boys on Jan 6th. To the degree that any of them participated in the actual violence seems to be an afterthought here as well. The concept is to charge them with "Seditious conspiracy" and let a leftist mob jury convict them on sheer hatred.

Nobody is really defending the ideals of the Proud Boys here. But it has become abundantly clear that the accusations against them in relation to Jan 6th are powerfully overblown. In fact, the actual facts seems dangerously close to suggesting that actual Proud Boys are being held legally accountable for the actions of the undercover agents and accountable for the prosecution's idea that they were there in some sort of coup attempt (with or without any real proof). Like the Q-Amon Shaman, the Proud Boys are being made "an example" of by local authorities. Now that we have seen the actual footage of the protest/riot, both of these prosecutions seem to be a flat out civil rights violations for the people involved.
