“My management believes they did the right thing, a service to the American people. Some reports have written about important new thoughts and things that we learned from Trump’s very mouth that night… Time could very well prove that Trump’s electroshock therapy to the world jolts the undecided into greater awareness,” Amanpour said.
“For me, of course, the fact that the American people voted three times against Trump and Trumpism- 2018, 2020, 2022- also speaks volumes. We’ve done our duty. We have told the story.
“We have put that in everybody’s awareness and people have had the opportunity to make their choices and they have done.”
She continued, “I still respectfully disagree with allowing Donald Trump to appear in that particular format.”
It is truly mindboggling that with the criminal puppet sitting in the White House right now that a supposed major cable news network would employ people who don't believe that the GOP frontrunner for the Presidential nominee (and potentially the next President of the United States) does not warrant a forum. And CNN wonders why nobody takes them seriously as a news organization.
This was an issue people questioned when CNN was turned over to new leadership who wanted to turn it back into the old non-partisan CNN. They had this idea that they would concentrate on just news and not inject everything with politics. They got rid of some of their worst partisans (Lemon, Stelter) , but you cannot change the overall culture with just a couple of high level firings. That looks more like blowing smoke. To really change the culture, they would need to replace most everyone who has the mindset that they are a network dedicated to things like stopping Donald Trump from becoming President. That sounds like most everyone who works at CNN.
CNN did the right thing by giving the Donald a forum. They got a ratings bonanza and they got quite a bit of buzz. Perhaps this buzz does nothing for those who still see CNN as a champion of the left, as most objective people suggested Trump had his way with CNN. That appears to be the real problem. Not that Trump was given a forum, but that Trump was given a forum and did something useful with it (which I am sure most of them were not expecting).
