The looming government shutdown clock is ticking.

Will the Democrats follow through on their threats to shut down the government?

The Schumer Shutdown as it has been dubbed is set for midnight Friday/Saturday of this week. If no deal is cut, then the partial shutdown starts to engage.
As I have suggested, this seems to play into the hands of Trump and Musk, who once again will be trying to use this shutdown to prove how little the average American really depends on the bulk of the US Government. With over three million employees and a 7 trillion dollar budget we will once again be amazed at how little will change when the non-essential portions of the government shut down.
This will also provide greater flexibility for Trump and Musk to continue their audit of the Federal government and move money around in the meantime. In fact, it will be the Office of Management and Budget who will suddenly wield the lion's share of the responsibility to allocate available resources. I am not sure what the Democrats hope to accomplish by shutting things down. I mean, they are the Party of the government while the Republicans are the Party of the tax payer. The longer things go without a functioning non-essential portion of our government the worse for the government and the better for the tax payer.
Even politico agrees to some extent:
