This is a clash between the Gold Star Families who lost loved ones and a cemetery employee who didn't like the fact that Trump was there with cameras.
To be clear, Donald Trump was invited to the event by the Gold Star Families who were more than happy that he came and more than happy that he took photos. They both offered their permission for that to be done and wrote a glowing letter thanking Trump for being there with them. Neither Biden or Harris was there to offer support, and no doubt the families would not have wanted them there. After all, it was the bungled withdrawal of our troops under the Biden Harris leadership that ultimately got them killed.
The permission was confirmed by media outlets, but these media outlets apparently also side with the cemetery employee to took issue, as apparently there are specific rules about any pictures being taken. The employee in question apparently got into an altercation with one of the photographers, trying to physically prevent the photographer from filming anything. There are Army National Military Cemeteries rules against using the cemetery for political or fundraising events. Now, I think whether or not a former President being invited to morn with Gold Star families is "political" can be questioned. Had the families themselves taken the pictures, then would that still constitute a breaking of these rules?
The left, for some reason believes this is a story that helps Harris? I think this is one of those times where they simply do not live in the same universe as conservatives. Harris, herself, has decided to come out and take shots at Trump over this. I think this is a big mistake given she has admitted stated that she was involved in the Afghanistan withdrawal decision. What ultimately is worse? Harris being responsible for thirteen soldiers being killed or Trump taking pictures with the Gold Star families who wanted him to do so. I don't see how this plays well for Harris long term.
The series of video posts the victims' families have put out on X (and reposted by President Trump) in defense of Trump and blasting Harris make no doubt how they feel. For this to take place at the start of the normal "political season" is a huge error by the Harris campaign who triggered this. Maybe an intern while the office was vacationing. Like Biden.
