The latest - Minor Sex Change lawsuits

A minor cannot legally consent. Those who regret having sex-change operations as children are starting to sue. Where will this go?

Chloe Cole, a young woman who once identified as transgender, is suing the medical professionals and hospital that administered sex change procedures to her as a child which she now regrets, according to a complaint her attorneys published Thursday.

The Center for American Liberty, Dhillon Law Group and LiMandri and Jonna are suing Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, the Permanente Medical Group and several doctors on Cole’s behalf for their involvement in Cole’s transition, which included puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and a double mastectomy between the ages of 13 and 17….

Cole struggled with anxiety, depression, speech difficulties, autism spectrum symptoms, body image issues and confusion about her gender, according to the complaint. She adopted a transgender identity after watching transgender influencers on social media, and when her parents brought her to Kaiser, medical professionals made no attempts to treat her coexisting mental health issues or understand what had led her to identify as transgender, but instead put her on the immediate path to gender transition, the complaint alleges.

It is illegal in much of the rest of the world to perform sex-change operations on minors. The United States of stupid woke liberalism is one of the few that still allows it. While a few adult states are passing laws making it the crime it deserves to be, there are still overly stupid woke anti-child states who eagerly push these surgeries. Heck they even encourage other children from other states to come to their state and have their sexual organs mutilated to the point where they are no longer of use.

The number of adults who had sex change operations and now regret it is astounding. While the pro-sex change sites will suggest that 95% or more are happy and argue that those who regret it do so because of societal pressures, some of the largest and most comprehensive studies suggest that as many as 1 in 5 regret having their sex-change and that the numbers for those who transitioned as children is much higher.

Moreover, other studies have shown that between 60-90 percent of people who identified as transgender at some time as a children no longer identified as much by the time they became adults. In other words, most of the transgender surgeries performed on children would have never been performed had the child had to wait till he or she was a legal adult.

The back and forth between the different research shows that your pro-sex change crowd relies on data from people who are only 1-2 years removed from surgery and only from those who are willing to continue to participate in ongoing conversations and follow up with the various medical teams. However, as many as half of those who have sex change operations no longer participate in these studies and no longer stay in contact. The obvious deduction would be that people who are happy with their decisions are more prone to keep in touch with the doctors and teams that assisted with their sex change. Meanwhile those who are not happy would tend to drift way, maybe not even trusting the doctors that worked with them.

Why is this? Well the most common theme is that gender dysphoria is almost never a stand alone phycological condition. Those with gender dysphoria almost always have other mental health issues, many are on the autism spectrum, and many have suffered from abusive home lives. These are all things that can make a child feel uncomfortable, even in their own skin. The idea of switching sexes is seen as a way out or as a way to feel better about themselves. If it doesn't help them, then what good does it do to go back to the sex change doctors. Sex changes doctors rarely seem to be interested in (and likely not qualified in) treating the other issues these people might have. They make their living off these surgeries, not by talking anyone out of one.

These lawsuits (this is not the only one and will not be the only one) are going to be interesting to say the least. Much of it will involve the idea of whether the parents and children were given all of the possible complications and all of the possibilities of satisfaction. If they used flawed studies to suggest that there is almost no backlash from these surgeries, that could be a big legal problem. There is also going eventually be questions about whether parents should even have the right to consent for a child for something that is obviously not medically necessary and comes with huge downside risks.

The reality is that many people end up transitioning back. Whether that is 5% or 10% or 20% or whatever, those transitions will always be incomplete in the fact that a transgender person will never be able to naturally reproduce. While there have been attempts to recreate working sexual organs, we cannot do this for naturally born men or women with reproductive problems. Why would we work harder to get that done for a trans-sexual person?
