The David Brooks special!

Brooks being mocked for suggesting his burger at the airport was $78 and that $78 airport meals was why people believe that the economy is suffering...

You've probably read the story. Brooks was in an airport and tweeted a picture of a burger and what looked like a whiskey and suggested that his meal cost $78 and was the "real" reason why people believe that the economy is bad.

Of course, it took about 10 minutes for someone to find the menu from the airport restaurant and see that his burger was $18 and that the $78 would have been basically that $18 and a $50 bar tab. They could confirm that two double shots of whiskey would have put him pretty dang close to a $50 bar tab, thus the $78. Certainly this is expensive, but airport food has always been expensive. $18 for a burger seems about right to me in my airport experience. This is not the reason why anyone thinks the economy is suffering. They think that way because it is suffering.

Brooks has not lived this one down and has been relentlessly mocked for his tweet (or X). I guess the "Smoke House" decided to get in on the mocking by creating a David Brooks special. A burger, fries, and a double shot of whiskey for $17.78 (or $18). Brilliant!
