On Jan. 6 anniversary, violent extremism lurks across the country

Lurks is just another term for nothing substantial is actually happening

Two years ago, white supremacists, antisemites, and seditionists hung nooses, waved Confederate flags, attacked police officers, and planned to kill the vice president and members of Congress at the US Capitol. Despite the ongoing prosecution of these insurrectionists and the findings of the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol, the hate, bigotry, and violence unleashed by then-president Donald Trump and his mob continues to tear at the fabric of American democracy and foment a culture war that has spread to politics, the judiciary, and our very homes.

Without adequate infrastructure and resources focused on combatting domestic violent extremism, it is difficult to respond to these threats. Even the systems we do have in place are failing. In late 2022, the FBI released its annual report on hate crime statistics, but thousands of law enforcement agencies failed to provide hate crime data, resulting in an incomplete picture of this scourge.

So lets take a realistic look at all that is being suggested here. First of all the hanging of nooses, confederate flags, and the supposed killing of the Vice President is propaganda. There were 40,000 people in attendance during the Jan 6th rally, which I am sure included a wide variety of people with a wide variety of views. But for the most part (99% or so) these were just average everyday patriotic Americans who were there to support Trump and use their constitutional right to protest what they (and well over 100 million other Americans) saw as an election that was riddled with fraud and not security counted. If we cannot protest in favor of fair, transparent, and safe elections (because the tainted election winners want to shut down dissent) then we no longer live in a free Democracy.

But out of the 40,000 or so who were in attendance the DOJ and FBI have gone to great lengths to arrest about 950 people associated with the riot. Nobody has been charged with attempted murder of Mike Pence. Nobody has been charged with an attempted coup (not to be confused with the generic sedition charges applied to some). There is very little evidence of either white supremacy, antisemitism, or anything other than a questioning of the election as the reason anyone was at the Capital that day.

Furthermore the reason why 1000s of other agencies are not reporting "hate crimes" as the FBI might do is that 1000's of other agencies do not have a politicized DOJ demanding that run of the mill crimes be labeled as hate crimes. If we seriously wanted to look into hate crimes, most of that hatred comes from Markey's own party constituents.

So what does Markey actually want? He wants to keep his voters in fear of the bad orange man and all of his so called racist supporters. When there is no actual news or other actually real life situations that he can refer to, then he makes shit up, pushes thinly veiled narratives, or misrepresents things. The truth is that Jan 6th was not what the left made it out to be and the fact it is a lie is the reasons that we have not seen more of what they suggested that was. To pretend otherwise is sick hateful politics and little more than a transparent scorn for anyone who disagrees with the leftist ideology.
