Sen. Bob Menendez says DOJ is going after him because of politics?

Oh, and the wads of money (half million or so) hidden in his house were just legitimate savings that he has kept over the years, similar to the change one might keep in a change jar or the occasional bill tossed into an old coffee can.

So apparently we are supposed to believe that all of this money was legitimately saved and just randomly hidden around his house, because apparently the Senator does not believe in banks or investments?

Doing some simple math, apparently we are supposed to believe that the Senator had about $1400 a month over a thirty year period that he just had "in cash" that he left around the house in random places (or in safety deposit boxes). Oh, and I suspect that he will argue that he just happen to find those gold bars that he had as well.

If one were to have taken $1400/month and invested it over a 30 year period in even the most conservative of fashions, the man would have tens of millions of dollars in investment accounts. If we are supposed to believe he just saved it as cash over the years for whatever reasons, well then he should resign from the Senate for being stupid.

But on top of all this, to suggest that the charges are politically motivated take the cake. Since when have Democrats been targeted by any Federal law enforcement. To the degree that it might be "political" is that the DOJ probably knows it cannot keep looking the other way just because someone is a Democrat while sending conservatives to jail for 22 years because of their political affiliation.
