NBC's Todd Claims Scientific Research Proves There's More Than Two Genders

Democrats claim to be the party of science, yet many of their highest-profile sycophants in the media regularly parrot anti-scientific claims like “gender is a spectrum.” This was the case on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday as moderator Chuck Todd argued with GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy over second-grade biology.

Ramaswamy says there are just two sexes. Todd suggests that there is "a lot" of scientific research that "says" gender is binary. Perhaps both are correct to some degree.

From a biological standpoint, Ramaswamy is 100% correct. There are two general "sexes" - male and female based on the chromosome makeup. Occasionally there is an issue where someone is born with portions of both male and female reproductive, but that does not go to prove any sort of spectrum. It is an anomaly and to some degree an exception that proves the rule. There has literally been no scientific breakthroughs that suggest that this basic biology (chromosomes, testosterone, estrogen, reproductive organs, etc...) has changed. Not a single study or bit of research suggest anything about the X and Y chromosome that explains genderism or suggests any sort of biological spectrum.

On the flip side, the term "gender" is not always interchangeable with the term "sex". For all practical they are completely different.

Sex and gender are different concepts. Sex refers to a person's physical characteristics at birth, such as male, female, or intersex. Gender refers to a person's identities, expressions, and societal roles, such as masculine, feminine, or something else.

What Todd is arguing is in line with the more liberally popular "gender" concept. But when you are talking X and Y chromosome, the idea of gender really doesn't apply. There is nothing within biology that suggests "gender" really even exists. It's an example of basically answering one question with an answer from the question you prefer to answer. Logical fallacy 101.

To the degree that gender exists as a person's personal opinion about how they feel then there is nothing really scientific about it, at least not in biological manner. To the degree that there are studies, this research is largely sociological, psychology , rather than biological. To the degree that a sociologist or psychologists is making determination is largely observational and entirely opinion. Not that sociology or psychology is not science, but it is quite different from biology (where things like X and Y chromosomes are provable fact). Sociology is more of a study of behavior and largely a set of different theories. Two sociologists or psychologists can have a much different opinion on a particular subject and often times will. Two biologists cannot really have that same difference of opinion as it is a physical science with means to prove things out.

What is happening now is that the woke liberal community would like to basically replace biology of sex with the more nuanced psychological idea of gender. This is why they are trying to eliminate the teaching of the human biology and why teachers have been fired for teaching students about chromosomes and sex. If they can eliminate the factual science of human biology, then the only thing left is opinion. In that case, they can then claim a scientific consensus, shut down any alternative opinions, and look to do what they always work to do. Win an argument by force, that they cannot win with logic.
