Many liberals believe that Government should lord over everyone, picking winners and losers, making important decisions for masses, and even limit our constitutional freedoms.
Perhaps this is the true reason that so many liberals describe themselves as "scared" of a Donald Trump presidency. They believe that Trump voters want the same sort of government control (or weaponization) that they want and are angry and worried that their own utopian government ideals will be turned 180 degrees against them. Think about it. After the past few years of our government demanding we do things like take an experimental drug just to live in society, they believe this sort of abuse would continue, only with different priorities. Perhaps they cannot understand either the desire or the real-life ideal to have real freedom and a government that is focused on allowing and helping people to succeed, not forcing winners and losers with control.
There is a meme out there right now, that sort of shows you how liberals think. The idea is that millions of Trump voters are now having buyer's remorse because they now have realized things after the race is over that the two billion dollars in advertising apparently couldn't convince them of. Obviously, this concept is nonsense, but it probably makes them feel better. But if you look at the list here:
taking away insurance
taking away healthcare
taking away construction workers
taking away farm workers
You will notice that none of these things have been promised by the Trump campaign and there is no reason to believe any of it would happen. Nobody is going to allow people with pre-existing conditions lose insurance. Protections for pre-existing conditions are part of laws that have existed for decades and contrary to popular belief was not introduced with Obamacare. Nobody is cutting back on healthcare, unless you suggest that allowing people to decide on their own what healthcare is taking it away. Last time I checked we had more than enough construction workers and farm workers prior to allowing 10 million migrants cross the border in under four years. Going back to reasonable immigration would not crush our work force. But you see the idea that they believe that the Government will be weaponized to cause all sorts of things. The idea that Trump voters simply want more freedom, and less Government doesn't seem to register as a possibly to them.
In fact, it is the same reason that liberals are leaving X to go to blue sky. Even though Elon Musk has offered us back a social media site where oversight is truly just about dangerous activity rather than picking and choosing the correct opinions to allow, the left simply doesn't believe it. They somehow see this freedom (as much as they accept it as such) as a limitation of their own beliefs and sensibilities. Because there are nearly as many conservatives as liberals now on X, the site has obviously become "right wing" because views they disagree with exist on that site. The idea of providing both sides of the argument has always been a thorn in the side of liberals. They also exhibit the paranoid idea that any day now, they will be the ones being censored and have their opinions questioned by the moderators. Nope. Neither Musk nor the conservatives on X want opinions censored, in fact they want them there so they can respond to them (which no doubt will get them blocked for their efforts). A little back and forth outside of the circle jerk is generally a good thing according to conservatives.
Now certainly there are some binary issues out there (no pun intended) that will need to be addressed. Either you want transgender biological males to use the girl's bathrooms and compete with girls in athletics or you don't. These sorts of epic crossroads elections will no doubt bring about laws or changes in the laws to address these things. But these will be almost exclusively new cultural issues that have been rammed down the throats of a largely skeptical society by the very people who planned to use the government to force these beliefs onto said society. To the degree that a newly elected government might push back, liberals will demand is the same big government control conservatives despise. But most would just see this as little more than undoing government intervention into cultural issues that the government had no business pushing in the first place. They will see it as simply resetting and correcting the big government control that liberals had some success pushing.
But at the end of the day, it is actually projection that is causing all of this liberal angst. They have obviously come to the conclusion that weaponizing the Government to get what they want is a simpler solution than convincing society to go along with them. Now that they have lost, they believe that the weaponization will be coming for them. While some would like nothing more than to do just that, most really want the government to step out of these cultural debates and allow them to play out naturally. This, after all, is how free society works. Contrary to popular liberal belief, providing individuals with freedoms is not fascism, in fact it is the opposite of fascism.
Libs leaving X for Blue Sky reminded me of those who proudly left for Threads.
Do have to wonder what Zuckerburg was doing at Mar-a-Lago.
