Newsmax beats Chris Wallace's CNN show in the ratings

“[CNN’s] much-hyped interview show hosted by Chris Wallace averaged only 224,000 total viewers at 10 p.m., drawing 60,000 fewer viewers than Newsmax’s Friday night offering.”

What is both interesting and sad is the fact that many believed that Chris Wallace leaving FOX would be harmful for the network. Not too surprisingly, those who suggested FOX would rue the day they allowed Wallace to go are the same people who believe FOX will do just peachy swell without Carlson.

Now it appears that Wallace cannot even beat the Newsmax show in his Friday night time slot. A sad revelation about a Sunday news host who at one time was considered the best of the lot.

What happened to Wallace is that he attempted to switch sides. In the media (as in politics) it is almost impossible to win over people who have been against you. While many of us started to realize (after Trump was elected) that Wallace was not a true conservative, it is also true that the left will never see him as a true liberal either. He's a fence sitter who has chosen to take sides and then switch sides. You can be a dispassionate fair journalist (or at least I heard such a thing can exist) and possibly gain acceptances as such. You might (if you were a true unbiased journalist) be able to exist either at FOX News or MSNBC. But you cannot go from someone viewed for years as a conservative on a conservative network and just decide one day to be a liberal on a liberal network. It don't work like that.

I have hope that Newsmax might be able to become the true conservative network that FOX News almost was. They will probably never get the ratings that FOX news did in their prime, but it would be very fun to see them start consistently beating CNN.

Russert and Lehrer were the last of the truly objective news media. Very sad.
