He even has his highest favorability numbers of his political career
One has to imagine how much more unified the country would have been had Joe Biden stayed in the race and lost as bad as polling was suggesting he would lose. Imagine a larger popular vote victory, likely well over 50%. Possibly another two or three more states added to his Electoral College advantage? Would we be even more unified?
Obviously the change over to Harris provide liberals with hope and even a bit of "joy" in the early moments. While there should have been many signs that Harris would fall just as she did, we mostly ignore them. Instead people demand that it was all a deep fake by "Republican pollsters flooding the zone" whatever that means. We saw the left become so enraged with polling that they turned on people like Nate Silver and Harry Enten, doing little more than shooting the messenger. While most prognosticators demanded things would be close, perhaps the closest election we had in years, it sort of felt like people just didn't want to come right and and say that they believed Trump would win as he did.
To put it bluntly, we knew Trump had won the election much earlier than we had known Biden had won the previous election in 2020. Meaning in some ways his victory was actually bigger where it counted. But that was not being suggested by much of anyone. Not before, not during, or not even after.
I believe that is why we have as much angst as we did. There was a false hope given that Harris really could be unburdened by what had been and faked her way to a Presidential victory. When that didn't happen, the left was distraught. I doubt they would have been so distraught had it been an expected Biden defeat, or at least they would have been more emotionally prepared.
But either way, there is a different thinking right now than there was the first time Trump won. There is more openness about Trump, more people willing to wear the red hats, and even more celebrities standing up for Trump. Look no further than the now viral Trump dance and how everyone is doing it. People are not embarrassed to have voted for Trump and they no longer hide it from friends. In many places, it is now the cool vote to have made, even with the younger males. While Harris has Pink and Taylor Swift, Trump has world class athletes like Nick Boza and Jon Jones Jr proudly standing up for Trump and showing the respect. Perhaps that will do little more than fuel the gender gap, any gap with celebrities and athletes (who were 90% or more for Clinton and Biden) is a good thing for Trump.
In 2016 the Russian collusion lie held some sway. In 2024 we know it's BS and people are willing to have Trump govern. Unless you rely on legacy media. It is breathtaking how fast far-left media is disintegrating. Buy stock in mental institutions, we need many more now. Maybe MSNBC and CNN will still have an audience there.
