Minnesota State Patrol and Maple Grove police arrests rioters at hotel last night!

So looks like Walz really may have had a change of heart here or is there something else brewing?

So it will not make the organized agitators very happy to know that the Governor sent in State Patrol to assist in breaking up their little hotel riot. They are so used to the Minneapolis Police doing nothing that I am sure they believed they were insulated from any local law enforcement. But calling in State Troopers is a far cry from the Governor ordering the National Guard to come serve them coffee and donuts. What a difference a couple of days makes.

Maple Grove is a suburb that is sort of on the way to St Cloud. Still part of the Twin Cities, but not really in the urban area. I would argue that it is likely a city similar to where I was from. While the local antics are awful popular in Minneapolis and the urban areas, these suburbs are a mixed political area. The further these rioters get from Minneapolis, the harder it will be for them to get away with things. Maple Grove police are likely way more interested in protecting Maple Grove residents than they are worried about the politics.

Now that the rioters have been arrested by Maple Grove police and Minnesota troopers, the Signal watch group likely will add them to the list of bad cops that they need to protest against. I doubt the MPD will change any time soon, but that is only because they do not have the numbers or the ability to actually do anything about much of this in Minneapolis. So they can still probably count on Jacob Frey's feckless cops to stand back and let things happen at least for the immediate future. But the agitators just may need to be very careful about which other cities they decide to move into. There are places fairly close to Minneapolis where the citizens (and local cops) will be way more supportive of what ICE is doing in Minnesota. You can burn down Minneapolis again if you want and likely get away with it, but you will run into problems if you stray too far from home.

Either way, the fact that the State Patrol got involved is the real story here. That order either had to come from or be approved by the Governor.

Is this the sign of an upcoming trend here? Actual cooperation between Federal and State law enforcement in breaking up this organized ring of law breakers? Or was this a one off deal that was done to show some sort of good will in exchange for some hope that the Feds will do some form of backing off on their raids? I don't trust Walz any further than I can throw him, but I also know he is not a very principled man. While he probably feels like a bit of a darling to the left right now, he may also see that he is losing control of the state and that at the end of the day, nobody really looks good when there is complete chaos.

Law and order must prevail. That includes the behavior of the ICE agents. Trump is feeling the heat of crappy poll numbers, so Bovino is out, and Homan is there to cool temperatures. Based on his press conference this morning, he will fail. Rand Paul is asking for testimony from the heads of ICE, CBP and some other alphabet soup agency. Republicans in Congress are feeling the heat of crappy poll numbers, too.

With all due respect, Nyuk... there are some things that are more important than polling numbers. Trump will follow through on his promises to crack down on illegal criminal migrants. It doesn't matther how many silly assed congressional hearings they want to have for basically their own sake. For better or worse, he has never allowed polling numbers to change his mind on things that he feels are important to him and his Presidency.
