No, Adam Schiff did not tell the President he has to step down,

Given Joe Biden's incredible record, given Donald Trump's terrible record, he should be mopping the floor with Donald Trump. Joe Biden's running against a criminal — it should not be even close, and there's only one reason it is close, and that's the president's age. 

Seek out the opinions of people you trust. He's obviously talked to his family about this, and that's important. But he should seek out people with some distance and objectivity. He should seek out pollsters who are not his own pollsters. He should take a moment to make the best-informed judgment, and if the judgment is "Run," then run hard and beat that SOB.

• Yes, it hints at the idea that Biden might find different advice is he branches out beyond his inner circle.

• Nope, this is not a ringing endorsement.

Rather, what this is a good old fashioned political hedge.

He provides the opinion that Joe should take a hard look at dropping out without calling on him to. He also provides himself the opportunity to back Biden up if he does decide to keep running. Schiff keeps the focus on Donald Trump and why it is important to defeat Donald Trump. Ultimately if Joe Biden is the nominee, then that will need to be the Democratic strategy in the Presidential race: better have a President who is old and senile than have one named Donald Trump. Schiff is careful not to work his way into a corner he cannot get out of.

It's exactly the sort of disciplined and political response that we are used to hearing Democrats give and it is the same sort of message we have heard from many other high-profile Democrats. Schiff and others are likely aware of the very true reality that Joe may not step down here and may just stubbornly continue his run. They have to be prepared for this situation first and figure out how to deal with the fallout if he does drop out.

Yet, there are those in the media suggesting that Schiff is basically calling on Biden to resign. They seem to want to fan these flames and I am not sure what good they believe will come of it.
