Funny how there appears to be no call for any "moderate" candidate
The most recent FOX news poll that adds Manchin to the mix of candidates suggests that he only gets about 5% of the vote. That is far below Kennedy and his 13% and barely beats Jill Stein at 4%.
If Manchin is expecting to somehow be a spoiler that helps Biden and harms Trump, then I think he is missing the mark. I think he wildly overstates the desire for voters to have a so called moderate candidate to choose. Our nation is polarized and both sides are moving away from (not towards) the middle. This is what happens when you start to take sides in wars and terror attacks and politicization of our judicial system. There simply extremely little common ground. The age old idea of primary campaigning from the outskirts and then moving to the middle during the general is yesterday's news.
Bottom line is that the more candidates enter the fray the harder it will be for Biden to repeat. Kennedy appears to be somewhere between a wash and a small bump for Trump. Jill Stein would take votes almost exclusively from Biden. Manchin would likely have a similar affect as Kennedy. Either way, I still expect the Democrats to do everything they can to keep all of these candidates off the ballot in the battleground states.
His name always reminds me of munchkin. He has no chance but may be serving a different agenda than actually trying to becoming president.
I don't think Manchin has any intention of actually running. He committed political suicide when he allowed himself to be rolled by Biden and Schumer. I think he's floating this idea just to fuck with the democrats. It's payback. Nothing more, nothing less.
