Kimberly Cheatle resigns!

Did she just decide to do the right thing on her own or did she ever really have a choice?

After an incredibly arrogant and tone-deaf congressional hearing the head of the Secret Service resigned. There was a massive failure on her watch and we nearly saw events that would have torn our country apart. Yet, she acted like the Secret Service did nothing seriously wrong and that nobody was actually entitled to answers from her. She seemed more annoyed than anything about being called out for this complete breakdown.

Whether or not she was "qualified" to run the department is another question. She was an assistance deputy previous and had been tasked with protecting Presidents before. But either way her management style was one of politics over competency. She seemed way more interested in hiring anyone who was not a white male than in protecting anyone. This has been a common theme in the younger managers in both Government and even private business. Epic failures that seem to follow this management style is generally written off as not really that important. The idea of diversity hires is always going to be more important to these people than finding the best qualified candidates. Their racial quotas trump income statements or anything that we traditionally see as the way we measure success.
