It's Tim Walz

Kamala is pressured away from picking Josh Shapiro, who might have given her Pennsylvania.

Shapiro was the favorite because he made the most sense. He was a popular moderate Governor from a state she needs to win. In fact, the pick of Shapiro seemed too obvious for Harris to pass over. But she apparently did.

By all accounts, it was the progressive wing of the party that was pushing her away from Shapiro and towards Tim Walz. Harris was told that if she wanted to keep her honeymoon intact within the Party, that she needed to pick Walz or basically anyone other than Shapiro. Shapiro was seen as simply too pro-Israel and anti-Hamas to be accepted by the pro-Hamas wing of the Party.

Of course, Walz is a pick not unlike J.D. Vance, where Harris is doubling down on progressive. Being from Minnesota up until a couple of years ago, I know first hand how liberal Walz is. I would offer that he is the most liberal far left Governor Minnesota has ever had. To say he went overboard in the Covid shut down is an understatement. Harris had a chance to move herself into that moderate area, but instead went in the opposite direction.

There seemed to be other candidates who could have pushed her towards the middle. Mark Kelly was one of those candidates, but seemed to be pushed aside because of rumors he had some investments tied to those Chinese spy balloons. The Governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear would have also fit that bill. But it really felt like Harris allowed herself to be pushed into picking Walz, whom his supporters call a "populist". I would argue that he is anything but a "populist". He is a pro-government, tax and spend liberal, not a man of the people.

This was a big missed opportunity for Harris, in my humble opinion.
