Seems like settling the Dominion lawsuit was a deadblow
According to Rolling Stone magazine, Fox laid off its entire investigative unit on Friday, a decision linked to the network’s massive $787.5 million defamation lawsuit settlement with Dominion Voting Systems, also last month.
“The rank and file journalists are getting let go. Meanwhile, upper management are sitting pretty while they are the execs responsible for the Dominion debacle. We are the sacrificial lambs,” the magazine quoted a Fox News source as saying.
The reason why FOX News supposedly settled the Dominion lawsuit was to avoid the bad press and move past it. Pretty much every legal expert out there believed that any guilty verdict would have been successfully challenged as the Judge in question refused to allow Fox news to make the argument that the lawsuits against Dominion were "news". Imagine a news organization not allowed to report a lawsuit as news and that they could be held liable for billions if the lawsuit they reported on failed. The larger repercussions from this sort of logic are mind-blowing. But this ridiculousness was basically the legal stance the Judge in this case took. The judge clearly went against multiple legal precedents and quite frankly the judge went against basic common sense.
So make no mistake. FOX News would have been much, much better off fighting Dominion in court and appealing whatever decision was handed down. They would not have lost a single real FOX News watcher for fighting this one. While it might be a liberal thing to cave under the slightest bit of social pressure and expect everyone else to do the same, conservatives have always been more about standing on principle and pushing back against injustice.
Instead of doing what conservatives would have done, the FOX executives did what any good liberal woke executive would do. They caved to social pressures and decided to apologize to the woke crowd instead of standing up and fighting for themselves and their own viewers (by proxy). Guess where that leaves them? It leaves them without their core audience while failing to attract a single new liberal woke viewer.
I haven’t watched Fox in years, mainly documentaries now.
highly recommend Documentary Now https://www.vulture.com/article/documentary-now-season-6-episode-4-recap-how-they-threw-rocks.html
How They Threw Rocks,” an ingenious riff on Leon Gast’s landmark 1996 documentary When We Were Kings, scores laugh after laugh on the essential barbarity of boxing and the flowery words that often accompany it. The writer, Seth Meyers, seems to have asked himself the question: What could be more punishing than two burly men throwing fists at each other? And the answer is “rocks.” The “oohs” of the crowd whenever Mike Tyson flattened an opponent in the first round with a thunderous right uppercut would surely only increase with the dull thud of a rock making contact with a man’s head. Indeed, there are times…
NAACP now, says get rid of DiSantis once and for all. That sounds like a threat and call for violence. Where the hell is DOJ? They can go after parents at school board meetings. But not this?
Again... this is the death of Cable News for Conservatives. FOX will have nobody watching to be able hire transgender people transitioning !
