Iran wants to escalate the war, but what will they do after midterms?

Iran has been banking on Trump giving in because of mid-term political pressure.

The recent buzz is that Iran aims to intensify the conflict to put more pressure on Trump and the US military, hoping they'll back down because of the approaching midterms. My initial thought is that, for many Americans, the war won't truly "feel" over (even if it's officially declared as such), at least not anytime soon.

The question appears to be: why should we end the conflict now, especially when Iran seems to be at a disadvantage? According to most reports, the Arab states are finding alternative methods to transport their oil, making control of the Strait of Hormuz less of a strategic advantage than it was a few months ago. In fact, the attempts by Iran to reduce traffic through the Strait may have caused them to lose future leverage in the grand scheme of things.

Meanwhile, the US continues to blockade most Iranian ships, severely impacting Iran's economy. Simultaneously, Israel and the IDF persist in their confrontations with Hamas and Hezbollah, gradually wearing down the Iranian terrorist resources. Oil prices remain stable, and significant changes in gas prices are unlikely before the midterms, if that is a factor. The more Iran attempts to disrupt the status quo, the clearer it becomes that they are uneasy with it.

It seems that patience might have been crucial all along. Once the midterms are over, then they only real tool in the Iranian arsenal will be speed boats with machine guns going up against Navy destroyers and shooting missiles and drones at other Arab states. They will no longer have the political leverage that they believe they currently have.
