Inflation unexpectedly low

Apparently, there might be a difference between tariffs and inflation?
Meanwhile, the same tariffs brought in 16 billion in new revenue.

The consumer price index, which measures the costs for a broad range of goods and services, rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2% for the month, putting the 12-month inflation rate at 2.3%, its lowest since February 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said. The monthly reading was in line with the Dow Jones consensus estimate while the 12-month was a bit below the forecast for 2.4%.
So, Democrats may be losing another talking point. I am sure they were expecting sooo much inflation that they could hammer the point home over the next few weeks. Perhaps they will still try, because when have facts and statistics ever stopped them before. After all, the head of the Fed stated that tariffs cause inflation, unemployment, GDP reduction, climate change, anal leakage, possible death, and a whole bunch of other side effects. Democrats love the "experts" and hate the statistics that prove those experts wrong.
Now, some are suggesting that the tariffs will not be fully reflected in April because even though they started on April 2nd, there is a good reason that the fist 29 days are immune from the effects... or something like that. They don't provide any actual reason, just one of those matter-of-factly type of suggestion as if everyone knows and understands it to be true, even if nobody really does.
Given that only about 20-22% of our overall purchases are imports and given the 10% across the board tariffs in place, even if the consumer ate all of the cost of these tariffs (which they do not) you would be looking at some sort of one-time adjustment of around 2% in the overall cost of goods. But once you add into the mix that both the exporter and the importer eat some of these costs to stay competitive, and that the average consumer may end up buying something domestic instead, that 2% is likely highly inflated. It would take an advanced degree in soothsaying and higher calculus to know exactly how these tariffs will affect anything. Those so called "experts" are making a guess, nothing more.
But as it is... we have another "unexpectedly good economic number" because anything good is unexpected when Republicans are in control.
