Indictment released regarding wanted fugitive whistleblower

Ironically, the main charges appear to be the exact same FARA charges that they refused to charge Hunter Biden with.

Last week in “Gal Luft speaks” I noted Miranda Devine’s New York Post column on Gal Luft’s video statement alleging knowledge of the Biden family business and his meeting with the FBI on the subject. Luft is on the run from charges we had yet to see.

Luft’s video appears to have moved the government to unveil the charges. Yesterday the government unsealed the indictment against Luft for acting as an unregistered foreign agent, trafficking in arms, violating sanctions against Iran, and making false statements to federal agents. The government’s elaborate press release is posted here with the 8-count indictment attached. The indictment is undated. It is not clear to me when it was handed up or how long it has been under seal.

The obvious hypocrisy here apparently escapes the Government. They are arresting a whistleblower who suggested they were ignoring illegal foreign business dealings of the Biden family (failure to register as a foreign agent would be the least of those concerns). This whistleblower is now being charged with... failing to register as a foreign agent and false statement charges. Go figure.

If you read the press release, the other charges (arms trafficking and violating sanctions) seems to stem not from any actual selling or buying on the part of Luft himself, but rather the suggestion that he was part of a larger group who apparently brokered arms deals between China and Kenya and supposedly set up meetings between China and Iran that may have led to talks regarding oil sales. What evidence they have of this may never be seen as Luft is basically in hiding and will probably never go to trial.

Secondly, he is accused of recruiting a person within the Government to make statements that the US Government deemed harmful to the US Government. Really? So now we are criminalizing speech harmful to the US Government, huh? I guess that day was always just around the corner, but now it has actually come. Before too long the US Gestapo will be showing up at citizen's home to arrest them for their latest anti-Biden tweet or story. Who knows, they might be on their way to my place right now!

Last week, Luft challenged the US Government to provide their evidence against him. They instead provided their list of allegations as if that settles that. Obviously it doesn't. Now this doesn't necessarily mean that the US Government has no evidence here, just that citing a list of allegations is not actual evidence. For me, the main thing to keep in mind is that Luft was coming forward "before" the US apparently started their investigation into him. Had it been the other way around, then I think it could be seen differently. In other words had the Feds been building a case against Luft and then he suggested he had information, it would look as if Luft was the person making something up to undermine his charges. But that is not the timing of this situation. By all accounts Luft was coming forward, and then the Feds decided to "investigate" him.
