Hunter charged with felony tax crimes

So there appears to be charges of failure to file, failure to pay, fraudulent filing, and tax evasion. The years are 2016 through 2019. In some years he filed and didn't pay. Other years he didn't file. When he did file, the filings were falsified. The most serious, however is the tax avoidance (where he lied about and hid his income). That is a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Overall, Biden faces up to 17 years.

These are serious tax charges, folks. Not just the misdemeanor failure to pay taxes that was originally offered (and rejected by the judge). The indictment is 50 some pages. This is so serious that I am almost surprised. Of course, the indictment coming down the night before he is supposed to testify before Congress might have played a part in this. That seems too convenient to be a coincidence.

At the heart of the matter is the fact that between the years 2016 and 2019 (four years) Hunter Biden spent 4.9 million dollars on personal expenses, including 1.6 million in ATM withdrawals, 700K on "payments - various women", as well as almost $200K on "adult entertainment". But insisted that he couldn't pay his taxes. If you are working class stiff who gets behind in your taxes, the IRS might garnish your wages. When you are blowing five figures a month on satisfying your carnal desires, that is an entirely different monster.

To add insult to injury, the case was handed over to a Trump appointed Judge.

The left must be beside themselves.

I wonder out loud about those legal experts who suggested the earlier plea deal was not a sweetheart deal. Will they try to claim that he is being overcharged after reading all of this?

I will probably read the indictment in full tonight just to familiarize myself with it. The obvious question here is whether or not any of this can spill over to any other Biden clan members. I would assume that Weiss was fairly careful to not include anything that would get back to the President, but you never know where these things will go. Either way, I suspect that the pressure got to Weiss and others in the DOJ and they decided to try to claw back some credibility by at least looking fair.

We'll see how the White House responds... that will be interesting as well!
