CNN is now getting in on the act of questioning Harris's lack of conviction for her previous political views.
Even as much as the media wants Harris to win, at some point it becomes almost impossible to simply ignore everything she is "changing positions on" without looking like you are too stupid to notice. This CNN piece on the border is simply a drop in the bucket. But at least they are making an effort to point out that she is straying well from what she has stood for her entire political career on something so obvious.
But this can be seen with her reversal on everything from banning fracking, to banning plastic straws, to killing off private health insurance, to demanding aggressive EV mandates. Simply telling Americans that your principals have not changed only confuses the fact that all of these positions have changed. While everyone expects politicians (especially Presidential candidates) to move to the middle during general election campaigns, we don't expect that candidates who have achieved enough in their political careers to be provided the nomination to the highest office in the land to simply recreate themselves from scratch as a completely different person. That would be akin to having a basically unknown candidate running for President without the general public having a clue as to what they might do if elected. That being said, Kamala Harris is the closest thing we might have ever had for a career politician running for office where we apparently have no clue what she stands for today, because it is certainly not what she stood for a few months ago.
This is all a token posture to give the appearance of scrutiny.
In short, it's bullshit.
CNN just drew the short straw.
Axios is pulling the same shit - The Politico knock-off with the Nazi-sounding name, Axios, wonders how Kamala Harris is avoiding the scrutiny that they refuse to give her.
