Harris offers excuses not solutions for the border problems

Admits that crossing are still double what they were and blames Congress for the problem

Whittaker gives her basically three times to answer the question and three times she deflects, trying to blame Congress and Trump for the problem. Whittaker states as a fact and quite convincingly that border crossing quadrupled after Biden/Harris took the White House. Harris doesn't challenge him, basically conceding, but then demands that they have gone down by half over the past year (which by simple math logic would mean that they are still double what they were).

She, of course, wants to talk about a congressional bill that got zero Republican support in Congress and wants to blame Trump for killing the bill. Her overall position seems to be that border crossings are not the actual problem, but rather there is something deeper that needs to be addressed and that she is the only one who actually understands the real problem here.

The main takeaway out of this exchange is the fact that Whittaker stated openly that the border crossings quadrupled and was not challenged. This flies in the face of Harris rhetoric that crossings are actually down (not up) and that somehow this is the fault of something else. Whittaker just wasn't having it, and I doubt many viewers were either. This was maybe the first time Harris or Biden faced an actual question with actual facts about the border that were not manipulated for their benefit.
