Wow! A Minnesota professional sports team (not named the Lynx) in a conference finals?
Growing up in Minnesota, you became accustomed to sports disappointment. I watched my beloved Vikings lose three Super Bowls during the Bud Grant era (don't really recall their first loss vs the Chiefs). Don't talk to me about the 1998 NFC championship game during the 15-1 Denny Green season. Opps, 15-2.
I never got to watch the North Stars win a cup and then they just move away (Norm Green Sucks!). Same can be said about the Wild who was one of like two teams who missed the expanded playoffs this year. I think they still might have part of Zach Parise's salary hitting their cap.
It's been twenty years since the T-Wolves have been to a conference finals (Garnett, Sprewell, Cassell, Szczerbiak) and they have never been to the NBA finals much less won anything.
Yeah, the Twins won in 87 and 91 with Kirby Puckett leading the way, and the Gopher hockey team was dominant at one time, but that was about it.
Three decades later!
So fun to watch some success coming out of Minnesota. Am I a fair-weather fan! Of course. I thought the actor from revenge of the nerds and E.R. was their leading scorer until I realized it was a different Anthony Edwards. He is a little taller and a tad bit more athletic. But watch this guy for a while and you wonder if he is not the most talented player in the NBA. They got a slew of talent, including the sixth man of the year and the defensive player of the year. They start two centers, and neither are Randy Brewer or Mike Brown. It's fun to see some success! Go Wolves!
I haven’t watched a basketball game since Dominique Wilkins was posting up Charles Barkley as a ‘76er
Wolves is a name that offends women so that will need to go.
Can't believe they are getting away with that in this era.
Trembling as I type.
