Georgia passes bill to reinstate prosecution oversight committee!

People upset that it might target Fani Willis?

The Georgia House of Representatives has approved a bill to reinstate a commission tasked with overseeing prosecutors. This move has sparked concerns among Democrats who fear it is an attempt to undermine Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

The legislation, known as House Bill 881, was passed by a vote of 95-75 along party lines, with Republicans supporting the measure and Democrats opposing it. The bill will now advance to the Senate for further consideration.

Democrats have raised concerns that the bill is politically motivated and explicitly targets District Attorney Fani Willis. Willis has gained national attention for her ongoing investigation into former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

So isn't the bigger question whether or not the Willis and Wade fiasco and the prosecution of Donald Trump is politically motivated? This seems to be a favorite trick of the Democrats. They pull something obviously political in nature and then when investigated for said behavior they claim to be targeted for political reasons.

The only question is whether or not Fani Willis needs to be investigated for her behavior in prosecuting former President and Presidential Candidate Donald Trump for "racketeering" in a County court. Even you want to move past the oddity of these charges being associated with legal actions, not to mention why a county prosecutor is addressing this, there is pleny more to look at. if nothing else, the picking of her lover (and civil attorney specializing in discrimination cases) as the lead prosecutor and the subsequent billing of $650K plus for his services needs to be looked into.

The argument "appears" to be that because her prosecution is high profile and because questing it might look partisan, that everyone needs to stand back and give her a pass for behavior that if not associated with Donald Trump would most definitely have put her in investigative jeopardy. This logic doesn't pass the smell test and quite frankly the high profile nature of the case should bring increased (not decreased) scrutiny.

I doubt that the judge in this case is going to do anything about anything, as the judge appears just as gung-ho as the prosecutors to "get Trump". That being said even people on the liberal side of the equation have made calls for one or the other (Willis or Wade) to step aside for obvious reasons. Neither seems willing to even consider such an action. So if neither of them are going to do anything, and the Judge is going to allow it to continue, then certainly someone should be providing real oversight here.

The fact that a county Judge is charging Donald Trump with racketeering in a county court is all the reason in the world to have oversight, oversight, and more oversight. Not reason to stand back and just allow them to do whatever they want.
