Rejects argument that protesting at the capital results in the obstructing of an administration of justice.
This was sort of one of those semantic legal arguments, where something sounds close enough to use in order to increase the sentences on what was otherwise typical protesters.
There is still the pending case as to whether or not the Jan 6th defendants actually obstructed congress as well.
The law in question has to do with destruction of evidence during a congressional hearing, but has been loosely applied to protesters who have entered the capital grounds. It's one thing if that statute is used to give someone a $35 fine, but quite another if it was used to sentence them to 41 months in prison.
