At issue is a phone call she recorded with a Virginia attorney without his knowledge. Doing so in Virginia is a felony.
I wonder exactly how this will be played out as just another form of racism? But you know that will be the Fani default defense here.
According to the complaint right now, Fanni Willis recorded a phone call between herself and Carlos J.R. Salvado, an attorney in Maryland. She then provided the contents of that phone call to a local Atlanta newspaper.
Maryland is a two party phone call state, meaning both Parties must consent to being recorded. One person recording without the consent of the other party is actually a felony. Not as serious, of course, as suggesting an election might have been tampered with, but serious none-the-less.
So one has to wonder whether Fani Willis is really this stupid, this naive, or just so sure that she is above the law that she can get away with whatever she wants.
