Mostly white liberals who believe that any push back against their woke cancel ideology is actually McCarthyism??
McCarthyism of the 21st century Having vanquished the manufactured menaces of vaccine mandates, the gay agenda and widespread election fraud, Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis, used his midterm election victory speech to position himself as a wartime leader.
Now, he was preparing his constituents for the existential battle posed by their newest imaginary adversary: wokeness. In Churchillian tones, he announced: “We fight the woke in the legislature. We fight the woke in the schools. We fight the woke in the corporations. We will never, ever surrender to the woke mob. Florida is where woke goes to die.” The cyclical effort to stymie progress is as predictable as a pendulum DeSantis was summoning the resentment that produced the racial terrorism of Reconstruction, the pro-lynching Red Summer of 1919, and the pro-segregation states’ rights movement. This time, it was called anti-woke: a modern-day mixture of McCarthyism and white grievance.
The whole concept of wokeness is to demonize anyone who disagrees with their radicalized liberal agenda. It's not enough to even just quietly agree with certain political philosophies or just ignore them. You must bend to the will. You must use a silly pronoun. You must push children into believing that they should question sexuality and gender (without the slightest scientific or medical reason for it). In summation: the overwhelming majority of society must cater to the daily changing whims of the minority, or all hell will break loose!
Let's be clear. McCarthyism was about singling people out, labeling them, and ultimately shunning them from society. It was "cancelling" before the most recent generation decided to rename it "cancelling". In order to be accused of modern day McCarthyism you must be on the side of labeling, shunning, separating, and cancelling.
It's not the right that is singling people out for "cancelling". It is not the right that is shutting down dissent. It's not the right that is labeling people they disagree with politically. This is all happening on the left. In terms of the US Government, there is no conservatives targeting liberal protesters and overcharging them for any sway from the current government rhetoric. There are no conservative state politicians who would ever run on a platform of "going after the so and so family" as several New York Democrats have done with the Trumps. This is you show me the person and I will show you the crime. Only they have not found a single "crime" involving the Trump family in six years of trying. Democrats seem to believe that the lack of evidence is just proof of another conspiracy.
What DeSantis is doing... is pushing back against the modern day McCarthyism. He didn't start any war here, he was just elected BY THE PEOPLE to fight it. What bugs the left is that they are ultimately losing the current culture war even as they win a cancel battle from time to time. Those school board members pushing their persona political agenda into the schools are being voted out en-masse. This is enraging the left, because they know that they are losing the people.
The reality is that people in a free country should not have to live in fear of political retribution from the Government or the larger society. Most everyone (other than White Liberals) seems to get this concept. As we speak, the majority of Americans disapprove of Critical Race Theory in spite of all of the attempts to justify it. Nearly half 45% strongly disapprove with it. You should not fear retribution if you oppose having your own children taught something that most people believe if harmful. Large majorities say they are afraid to voice opinions. These same large majorities believe that freedom of speech is more important than protecting "feelings". Generally the feelings of White Liberals.
But there is a another problem that has been brewing with the left. It's called projection. It is the belief that what they are doing is actually being done by the other side. This is probably a type of mental health defense mechanism that afflicts people when their belief system gets attacked. We see it everyday. This is just a classic example. They apparently do not believe that there is such a thing as "wokeness" or "critical race theory" and that anyone accused of being woke or a supporter of CRT is being treated like someone that might have been accused of being a communist back in the days of McCarthy. The problem is isn't the label here, however. The problems are the behavior.
If you believe that someone needs to be "cancelled" and "shunned" from society because you disagree with their political opinions. Guess what. You are the bad person. The people wanting to protect free speech. The ones pushing back against the hate that is required to cancel, censor, etc.... are the good people. It is really that simple and no amount of "shaming" will change that.

"So think about that: the COVID pandemic was easily one of the most consequential human events of the last several decades. And yet, the platforms we use to communicate banned any debating or questioning of government decrees of Truth - until the govt. admitted it didn't know." / Twitter

And one reason the libs are so dumb is their go to "fact check" sources:
"In a now-retracted fact-check, Politifact gave a Tucker Carlson guest a “Pants on Fire” for the “debunked conspiracy theory” that COVID came from a lab. https://t.co/4uoawOKTtl https://t.co/pV1Tjm2yFW" / Twitter
