Two thirds support it and think it is important to do
Some 1,411 adult voters were asked the following question: “How important is it for Trump to quickly find and deport illegal immigrants with criminal records?” Possible responses included “very important,” “somewhat important,” “not very important,” “not at all important,” and “not sure.
It should come as no great shock that an overwhelming 69% of respondents said it was either very important (41%) or somewhat important (28%) to roundup and deport illegals with criminal backgrounds quickly, while just 26% said it was either not very important (13%) or not at all important (13%). Another 6% weren’t sure.
The left is trying to muddy up the waters with the claims that Trump is really after naturalized citizens and other examples of immigrants, when in fact it has been crystal clear all along that Trump will only go after the undocumented who are here illegally and focus on those with criminal records. It's an easy way to strike fear into their loyalist with more blatant lies about the bad orange man. However, it doesn't look at if the general public is falling for this anymore today than they had during the election.
Meanwhile:
"Everybody knows that, in Wisconsin, undocumented folks are a really important part of our economy, whether it's dairy, whether it's agriculture," Evers told reporters after the Capitol Holiday Tree lighting ceremony Thursday.
"The idea of deporting folks that are keeping our economy one of the best in the country is irrational. Trying to move them all over the country is irrational. So, we'll do whatever we can do avoid that."
The problem with this is that it is illegal to harbor or protect illegals from deportation and it is illegal in all other sorts of ways to prevent federal law enforcement from doing their jobs. What has happened in most of these cases where a Democratic lawmaker has insisted on fighting the federal government is that they have backed down when they have been told by local law enforcement leadership that they would not carry out any illegal orders to engage with federal law enforcement. The recent events with the Denver mayor come to mind as a pretty clear example of that. He backtracked hard on that one. Who is Evers going to call in to protect criminal illegals who are hiding out in Wisconsin?
This has been a winning issue for Trump and the GOP and it is even popular within the Hispanic community (something that Democrats fail to admit). I suspect the left will continue to bark at the moon here and be exposed as doing so. They have no good logical step moving forward, as long as Trump and the GOP stick to what they have actually promised.
The world is changing, thank God Trump won:
