Democrats will be forced next week to pick a date for their virtual rollcall

Would there even be time at this point to put together some sort of abbreviated open primary as some are clamoring for?

For the first time since the debate, I have started to hear buzz from the left acknowledging that they really do not have the ability to enter the convention without a candidate picked. Apparently, the word has been passed about this little thing called a deadline for states to start creating ballots and getting ready for an election that is less than four months away.

In true liberal form, the powers to be in the Democratic party are upset about these damned states who are refusing to "change their laws" to accommodate the predicament that the Democrats are in. Doesn't everyone understand that election laws are made to be changed or broken by Democrats without consequence while exploited to charge Republicans with crimes? I mean that should be obvious by now! The gall of Ohio and others who have laws that interfere with the Democrats abilities to make up new rules on the fly.

Either way, the term "running out the clock" has been the most recent buzz term for those trying to push Biden out the door. I guess by Biden choosing to stay in a race that he has already won, spending the money that he has already raised on "his" campaign, and continuing to be the President as he was elected to be is akin to a "strategy" of running out the clock. Much like Trump as a criminal defendant filing motions and using his constitutional rights to fight charges is another example of someone just running out the clock. I am thinking that running out the clock will likely be something Democrats will try to criminalize in the next session of congress.

Maybe it is just me? Perhaps I am just spit balling this? Lord knows I might just be noticing things that others don't. But hasn't Joe Biden provided everyone with his answer about whether or not he will drop out? I mean, hasn't he actually provided that same answer about a hundred different times since this whole drop out movement became a thing. I am not sure why so many people still see this as an open issue?

Now I am not suggesting that it is impossible that Democrats could still convince Joe to step down. Perhaps the Clintons will suggest that they heard Joe is contemplating suicide? Perhaps they will trick him by changing is teleprompter at an upcoming speech. But at this point, they have thrown much of the kitchen at the guy, if not the kitchen sink as well, and he doesn't appear to be budging.

Meanwhile Trump keeps rolling up huge amounts of dough. One of his Super PACs just announced that they raised over 100 million dollars in the second quarter. If Democrats were to hold a mini-primary, the winner of that primary (if not Kamala) would start with no money and a lot of expenses, with just weeks left before the election. While not everything Biden has spent money on will be wasted, a good portion of it will have been.

But that is how bad it has become. Democrats seem willing to go into an election with a brand-new candidate with no money, no infrastructure, no staff, and no strategy, rather than go with the incumbent President with a decent war chest accumulated. Desperation is the word that comes to mind. That and I really don't believe most of them are thinking straight right now.
