Debt limit debate: Democrats are basically advocating borrowing money from China to give to Ukraine!

We apparently are just on the cusp of financial default but we always have a few more billion to send to Zelensky and Ukraine.

Make no mistake, the debt limit fight comes down to exactly how much money we are willing to borrow from China. What do we do with this borrowed money? Well apparently one of our main concerns is giving it to other people.

What is happening right now is akin to having maxed out your credit cards, but cannot make your monthly expenses without some means to borrow. So you are forced to increase your credit limit (increasing your debt, your interest payments, etc...) to cover your basic living expenses. The amount of money you are short (and need to cover using credit cards) is effectively our country's annual "deficit".

The argument Democrats are making right now is that the credit limit on the credit cards should be pretty much infinite because we have made the promise to pay it all back and we cannot actually make all the payments unless the same creditors agree to provide us with more borrowed funds to do so. If we are not allowed to borrow from Peter to pay Paul, then our finances collapse. This is quite literally the logic.

The idea of running a household like this would be insane and would lead to bankruptcy every single time. But for some people, the idea of running an entire country and running trillion dollar deficits (the amount of money you need to take from your credit cards just to get by) is all fine and dandy.

Now on top of all of this... it's the credit card companies (not the credit card holder) who determines how much you can borrow. With the US Government, they have determined that they should be the ones to make that determination.

So what do those crazy extreme MAGA Republicans want to do? Get this. They actually believe we should spend and borrow less money. The absolute travesty of it all! They believe we should try to get closer to spending the same amount of money we bring in so that we no longer have to borrow over a trillion dollars a year from China and others. Now who could possibly support such nonsense?

Well apparently the American public is waking up this reality. As Democrats want to make Covid relief spending and multi-trillion dollar deficits the new normal, apparently the average American citizens is against that concept. They actually (amazingly) agree with Republicans on this. 63% support the MAGA idea of reducing the deficit as part of the debt increase package. 19% support the Biden/Democrats idea of making multitrillion dollar deficits the new normal. 16% say we should not increase it at all. For once, the Democrats are not winning this argument and it's about time.
