University of Wisconsin Regents Would Rather Lose $800 Million of Funding Than Submit to DEI Reforms
Republicans in Wisconsin have been negotiating with officials at the University of Wisconsin to scale back DEI policies at the various schools. Just a few days ago, it looked like they had a deal, but it apparently fell through at the last minute.
The Board of Regents rejected the deal in a vote of 9 to 8. This means that the school is going to lose out on $800 million in funding that was meant for salaries and raises for faculty.
So there is stubborn and there is stubborn. This is close to a billion dollars in funding that the board is leaving on the table in order to continue their indoctrination of students. But the most interesting part of this seems to be the reality that without the $800 million, they probably cannot afford to actually continue with a DEI program (in any official capacity) given the loss of $800 million in state funding.
Moreover, none of their professors will get the raises that they have been waiting months for and most likely expected. But hey, at least they can stick their middle finger at the people who fund them. They apparently not only rejected the deal, but they also voted to not reconcider it. I guess the board of regents must be missing any finance, business, or math people within their company.
So what was the state asking for? Well, they wanted a hiring freeze on "new" DEI employees and they were asking that about forty of those employees currently exclusively working with minorities, would provide services for "all" their students. Imagine the odacity of that?Everyone on campus being treated equally?
Almost as bad as saying that "all lives matter".
