CNN taking a beating over suggestion that Government control over media is a good thing..

CNN Chief White House Correspondent Phil Mattingly suggested that the Government SHOULD tell media and social media what to report... and CNN Senior Legal Analyst Elie Honig suggested that Judges are wanting to micromanage what the Government tells the media to report?

Boy, when did these people just bend over and offer it up to the Government? At least a few years ago, such political collusion would have been hidden from public view. If exposed, they might have tried to explain it away or otherwise at least pretend that they knew it was wrong.

Not today. Today, they just openly admit that they are propaganda pushers. Moreover, it certainly feels like the modern 2023 liberal journalist believes that towing the Government propaganda line is more important than real reporting. If Watergate happened in 2023, our press would likely be attacking the people on Nixon's enemies list rather than suggesting Nixon did anything wrong.

Literally our entire concept of the freedom of the press was to keep tabs and report on what the Government is doing. It was not to have the Government "tell them" what to write. If that is your goal, then perhaps you can apply for the White House Press Secretary job.

Do we really need a whole network (or several of them) to do that job?

Either way, CNN is being mocked (again) over this stance and deservedly so. Their inability to understand why they cannot beat reruns that were not the popular the first time around is exactly why they appear incapable of every righting the ship.

When your only job is to carry water for the government 100% of the time, of course government control over the media is a good thing.
