Carville and others upset that Shapiro was not chosen. Look to cast blame!

Democratic strategist James Carville on Thursday warned Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman he will take action against him for allegedly undermining his state’s governor, Josh Shapiro, by lobbying against him to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate.

Fetterman’s advisers discreetly conveyed concerns about Shapiro’s prioritization of his own personal goals, three individuals familiar with the discussions told Politico. Carville, on his “Politics War Room” podcast, said he will “deal with” Fetterman after the election because of how he treated Shapiro despite the governor allegedly helping the senator get elected.

The reality here folks is that people like Carville would not be upset with Fetterman, unless they are upset that Harris picked Walz over Shapiro. Carville probably knows that this was an epic blunder and lashing out. Not only would Shapiro have been a wonderful strategic pick, but he was probably (along with Mark Kelly) the most popular candidates with independents and crossover voters. Instead, they doubled down on "progressivism" under the pretense that Walz would give then a midwestern folksiness that would appeal to the voters in great lake states. Unfortunately for Democrats, this has not exactly panned out.

Walz might have been that guy at one time. But I can tell you from personal experience that living in Mankato (both of our former stomping grounds) and living in the Twin Cities (where we both moved to) are different things. Mankato is either a large town or small city with a population around 40,000 if you include North Mankato. Mankato West bussed in people from small towns, townships, and bussed in many many rural farm kids. We used to have short athletic practices on Wednesdays due to how many people went to a Wednesday mass. We had prayer sessions before meets and games. Everyone hunted and fished and pick up trucks were the vehicle of choice for many. It is not like that when you move to the Twin Cities where more than 3,000,000 live. These are two very different worlds.

The reality is that Walz turned his back on the former when he moved to the latter. He had his own version of deplorables as he suggested that the rural areas that once voted him into Congress were made up of mainly cows and rocks. Could be why in 2022 he overwhelming lost the vote of the people he used to represent.

Either way, I cannot imagine that a couple of days later that anyone is still very excited about Harris picking Walz over Shapiro or Kelly or anyone else for that matter. I suspect that Carville is just the first to be lashing out.
